Some indigenous women has to stop selling handicrafts due to the pandemic and they started to sew masks to feed their families. The indigenous people Sateré-Mawé received funds from British artists from the Artist Project Earth (APE-UK) group to purchase two sewing machines, fabric, scissors, and rubber bands. By the first half of June, 6,000 masks had been produced.
