In Brazil, University of São Paulo (USP) is testing the quality of masks.

Called “Respire! Máscaras Seguras”, the project analyzes the quality of the different fabrics used for the production of masks and provides tutorials for the manufacture of safe equipment.

A health management APP will use artificial intelligence and GPS technology to help users to manage their own health.  Another social distancing APP will use Bluetooth technology to help minimize virus transmission.

In Japan, the goverment has released a Covid-19 contact tracing app for iOS and Android.
If a phone user is found to be infected, people who spent at least 15 minutes within a radius of one meter of the person over the past 2 weeks will be notified. These people who get notification will be prompted to seek medical consultation.

In Brazil, volunteer journalists are writing profiles of people who died in the country because of Covid-19.
The profiles are published on the “Inumeráveis” website that was launched in late April. The journalists’ goal is that the victims of Covid-19 are not seen as statistical numbers but as humans.
