This auction has brought together the island’s tea brokers for 126 years. Sri Lanka imposed a national curfew on March 20 that has lasted weeks. The digital auction has avoided large money losses. More than 16.5 million kg of tea were sold in Sri Lanka during the first three electronic auctions, according to the Xinhua agency. It means the export of tea that is worth €1.3 billion.
