Indonesia’s start-ups join forces to boost local production of test kits.
Jakarta-based genomics technology start-up Nusantics is one of which to design test kit prototypes for government use. State-owned pharmaceutical company Bio Farma has produced and distributed 100,000 test kits its prototypes.

In South Africa a train is providing mobile Covid-19 screening.
The “Train of Hope,” a state-funded mobile health facility has been repurposed to provide Covid-19 screening in virus hotspots across the country. Health care workers and volunteers are now using the train to reach remote areas of the country and provide much-needed screening and testing services.

Vietnam plans to resume flights to some virus-free countries in July.
Guangzhou in China, Tokyo, Seoul, Taiwan, Laos and Cambodia could be the first select locations. Vietnam has suspended international flights since March 25.

In Chile, the Ministry of Education has created a working group to prevent school dropout during the pandemic.

In Chile, scientists have developed a test for Covid-19 cheaper and faster than the test that they used until now.
Researchers at the Universidad Austral de Chile developed a testing system to detect asymptomatic cases of Covid-19. It is possible to analyze 20 tests at the same time. The idea is not to discard traditional tests but to complement the diagnostic work.

Malaysia eased its Covid-19 restrictions from June 10 to allow domestic travel, social activities and reopen schools.
The measures were under the “recovery movement control order” phase until August 31. Non-contact sports aside from water sports are allowed but entertainment outlets remain shut.
