In Mexico, filmmakers create an aid fund for workers in the film industry who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Audiovisual Emergency Fund “Sifonóforo” has the support of relevant people in Mexican cinema, for example, directors Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro González Iñárritu and Alfonso Cuarón, actress Salma Hayek and actor Gael García. In Costa Rica, the National Bank and the Kurubandé Foundation have created a campaign to raise funds to help artists.
The money is to buy food and finance the creation of artistic projects since due to the Covid-19 pandemic most of the artists are not working. The artists have recorded a video singing the song “Te mando una canción” to publicize the campaign.

In Mauritius the government has launched a Covid-19 action plan to preserve cultural life and support artists.
The action plan includes 13 emergency interventions which will be valid for six months. These measures include holding weekly online concerts and monthly online theatre performances paid for by the government, as well as supporting virtual art exhibitions and commissioning street art.
