In Mexico, the company KJ makes sturdy, economical and ecological cardboard coffins.
The idea came up during the Covid-19 pandemic to help families who cannot afford to pay for a traditional funeral service. A coffin costs around 540 dollars (12,000 Mexican pesos), but cardboard coffins cost less than 9 dollars (200 Mexican pesos).

In South Africa a pharmaceutical retailer is offering free Covid-19 testing to the unemployed.
A pharmaceutical retailer, Dischem has committed to offering unemployed South Africans without medical aid free Covid-19 testing.
