Young engineers from Burkina Faso together with a colleague studying in Wuhan launched DiagnoseMe app to detect symptoms of Covid-19
This adventure began in late January, when there were still no cases of Covid-19 in Burkina Faso and an international hackathon, Hack For Wuhan, aiming at developing solutions to fight the pandemic was held in Wuhan, China, the epicentre of the pandemic. Only two African teams out of 56 groups from 33 countries participated in the competition. One of those, the Adama Sy Traore team was among the 12 finalists. It created the DiagnoseMe app to detect symptoms of Covid-19.

In South Sudan, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and government have set up an emergency Covid-19 call centre.
South Sudanese can now dial the toll-free number of 6666 for Covid-19 information and to report suspected cases. The call center will work in conjunction with the Ministry of health’s rapid response team and will receive support from the UNDP, UNICEF, and WHO.
