In Brazil, a psychiatrist serves the poorest population through Whatsapp.
Vicente de Paulo Gomes Júnior used to help the vulnerable population before the Covid-19 pandemic. However, because of the quarantine, he decided to continue answering online. According to the psychiatrist, in this moment of isolation people are susceptible to the appearance of disorders or they can aggravate psychiatric problems.

In Argentina, volunteers are cooking in their own homes to donate meals to the poorest.
The project started with the participation of neighbors who were at home because of the quarantine, but it became a network with 4,000 volunteers. 6,800 meals are delivered daily.

In Venezuela, an NGO installed a cinema screen on the roof of a house.
Activists from the Zona de Descarga organization set up the screen so that residents of the 19 de Abril community could watch movies without leaving their homes during the quarantine. The project is called “Cineplatabanda”.

In Egypt the Africa Development Bank (AfDB) has approved an emergency assistance grant to provide food relief.
The grant of US $500,000 will “provide food relief, and contribute to restoring the livelihoods of vulnerable populations severely affected by Covid-19.” The organization wants to ensure that the country is able to provide effective interventions quickly. Egypt is one of Africa’s hardest-hit countries by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Canada, an emergency payment of more than $2.7 million to support services for domestic violence victims.
The extra budget will help over 50 community agencies across Ontario, including indigenous organisations and those based in rural areas. Funds will help front-line staff respond to challenges caused by the health crisis, including hotels stays, transportation and meal vouchers available through the Victim Quick Response Program Plus (VQRP+).
