In the UK, Uber has launched Work Hub for drivers to find temporary work opportunities with other companies.
During the pandemic, Uber in the UK has partnered with companies that are currently offering work opportunities, such as Adecco, Hermes or Yodel, to show vacancies in other jobs. Uber drivers can visit the new section “Work Hub” in their Driver App.

In the US, Colorado organized virtual town halls on unemployment.
The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment held two unemployment virtual town halls in English and Spanish on May 4 aiming to provide information on the unemployment insurance program. Over 36 million people have filed for unemployment benefits in only two months in the United States, starting in mid March.

In Uruguay, a platform allows customers to pay for vouchers and use them in their favourite restaurants when the lockdown ends
Rodrigo Martinez, 29, a chief commercial officer of a software company EagerWorks explained to Outriders why they launched “Lo de siempre” (meaning “as usual” in Spanish). After 45 days of campaigning, restaurants in Uruguay have started to open and have finished the project. They have sold about 700 vouchers in total these days.

In Uganda, a smartphone app lets the vendors safely sell and deliver fruits and vegetables to customers under the lockdown.
It was developed by the Institute for Social Transformation, a Ugandan charity, and it helps avoid crowds in markets. People can sell goods while at home, which are delivered to customers with motorcycle taxis. UN Women supported the app, since it enables female vendors to increase sales and e-commerce.
