In Costa Rica, Juntos por Guanacaste project is raising funds to help unemployed.
The Guanacaste Community Fund together with other organizations in the Santa Cruz tourist area created this project to help families from 31 communities who are unemployed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. In Uganda, a smartphone app lets the vendors safely sell and deliver fruits and vegetables to customers under the lockdown.
It was developed by the Institute for Social Transformation, a Ugandan charity, and it helps avoid crowds in markets. In New Zealand, volunteers are purchasing and distributing food parcels using a micro-grants scheme from the government.
In March, the Government announced $27 million for essential social services andup to $4.8 million for community grants “to support innovative, community-led solutions that support local resilience,” its website explains.
